Located in the Longwood Historic District in the South Bronx, this project includes the landmarked Denison-White Mansion and a new, 8-story apartment building. City Cedars revitalizes a neglected site and provides a healthy and “green” home for its residents. Incorporating a geothermal heat pump system and green roof, City Cedars recently received LEED Gold

Certification

The building is used to provide low cost housing for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.

The owner and architect selected a high quality Versico EPDM assembly over a tapered insulation system that provided drainage. After the EPDM membrane was protected with a layer of geomembrane, V & R Contracting installed a pre-grown modular vegetative tray system manufactured by Live Roof Inc.  The Live Roof Trays are specific engineered to provide allow drainage and offer optimal evaporative cooling and water retention. As the trays get delivered to the site 95 % pre-grown they are instantly beautiful.

Versico was able to offer the components the owner needed to meet the very strict LEED requirements and offer long term 20 year security of a roof warranty with overburden protection.
